Orchid Sett, AMFT

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

Orchid is an empathetic therapist dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and cultural humility, honoring each client’s story, strengths, and lived experience. Orchid blends creative and evidence-based practices in her work, drawing from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Gestalt Play Therapy, and Art Therapy. With an understanding of how multiple identities shape our experiences, she is committed to creating a brave, inclusive, and affirming space for healing and growth. She has a background in both community mental health and private practice, working with diverse populations, including neurodivergent individuals (Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorders), adolescents in foster care, survivors of sexual trauma, and individuals within the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.

Orchid received her B.S. from UC Santa Barbara and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Her clinical experience includes facilitating an Anxiety Skills Group and providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults at New Beginnings Counseling Center. Additionally, she supported families and adolescents (ages 12 to 17) at Noah’s Anchorage through homelessness prevention, family mediation, and conflict resolution. Beyond her clinical background, she has worked in school-based settings as a teaching assistant and after-school aide, and served as a conference coordinator for UCSB’s 7th Annual Mental Health Conference in 2022.

My Story

Orchid was born in Myanmar and grew up in several places across the U.S., including Kauai, Oregon, and California. She moved to Santa Barbara for her undergraduate studies and has made it her home ever since.
