About the Role
Position Summary
The Board Member will serve as a strategic advisor, ambassador, and fiduciary steward of The OpenMinds Foundation. Board members help ensure the organization remains financially responsible, legally compliant, mission-aligned, and well-positioned for long-term sustainability.
We are especially interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
Legal, compliance, nonprofit governance, or risk management
Finance, accounting, budgeting, audit, or nonprofit financial oversight
Fundraising, donor relations, grant development, or advancement
Community development, strategic partnerships, marketing, or organizational growth

Key Responsibilities
Board Members are expected to:
Attend and actively participate in regular board meetings
Provide strategic guidance on organizational growth, sustainability, and community impact
Review financial reports and support responsible fiscal oversight
Help ensure compliance with nonprofit governance standards and legal obligations
Support fundraising, donor cultivation, grant opportunities, and community partnerships
Serve as an ambassador for OpenMinds in the community
Participate in board committees or special projects based on skills and availability
Assist with long-term planning, development strategy, and organizational advancement
Uphold the mission, values, and confidentiality expectations of the organization
Desired Qualifications
Ideal candidates will bring professional experience, community relationships, or subject-matter expertise in one or more of the following:
Law, contracts, compliance, healthcare regulation, employment law, or nonprofit governance
Accounting, finance, banking, investment, budgeting, or audit oversight
Fundraising, philanthropy, donor development, grant writing, or nonprofit advancement
Business development, marketing, public relations, communications, or community engagement
Healthcare, behavioral health, education, social services, or youth-serving organizations
Executive leadership, entrepreneurship, operations, or strategic planning
Prior nonprofit board experience is helpful but not required. We welcome candidates who are passionate about mental health access and are willing to learn, contribute, and engage meaningfully.
