Mackenna Minehan, LCSW 

Licensed Clinicial Social Worker

Mackenna has come to specialize in treating teens and young adults as they navigate their personal stress and the stressors of today’s world. Additionally, she has vast experience working alongside parents (both individually and/or alongside their children) as they strive to manage the ever-changing demands of their role, improve communication, and nurture their relationships. Using a combination of theories and modalities, including CBT, MI, Mindfulness and Family Systems, Mackenna aims to assist her clients explore their past while also remaining present and identifying new skills to help prepare for the next stage. 

 

Mackenna has worked in a variety of clinical and academic settings including as an LCSW and case manager at the University of California Santa Barbara, and as a clinical supervisor and lead therapist at The Dorm, an intensive outpatient in New York City. Mackenna completed her undergraduate degree at San Diego State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Biology. She later went on to obtain her Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work at Columbia University School of Social Work and completed internships at the International Rescue Committee and the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Her post-graduate work includes participating in a Post Masters program centered around disordered eating at The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in NYC, completing an EMDR certification, and other clinical certifications and continued education.

My Story

Mackenna is a native Southern Californian and grew up in San Diego. That being said, she feels a strong connection to New York after living there for over six years and wishes she could be bicoastal. She currently resides in Santa Barbara with her husband, young son, and dog, Maverick. Mackenna has come to prioritize a work/life balance and enjoys running, baking, and simple times at home with her family.
